Parameters of Situational Effectiveness of the Top Senior Basketball Players and Variables Related to Basketball

Abstract: 
Detection the relationship between the situational efficiacy in the basketball with the other variables could contribute to better understanding of the overall situational effectiveness of the basketball players. The aim of our study was to determine the correlation between the variables related to basketball (from the game log and demographic) with different parameters of situational efficiency of the top Croatian senior basketball players. The final sample of subjects (74 basketball players) is selected from the initial sample of players from nine men's senior basketball teams, in A-1 Croatian league. For the analysis of relationship between the variables of two sets of data (parameters and situational efficiency of log variables), as well as within the same set of data (log variables) is used the Pearson correlation coefficient. Log and demographic variables showed a large number of statistically significant correlations with the standard and derived parameters of situational effectiveness in basketball. The success in shot for two points is very important criterion by which coaches operate in the selection of teams, while the players more successfu in shots for three points play less.
