Abstract:
The main feature of the time in which young people live today is a deficit of physical activity in all social classes. Drastic reduction of movement and physical activity has a direct bearing on the health status of youth. Students are not exempt from these trends.
Optimal physical activities are necessary for the preservation of health and normal functioning of organs because movement is man’s inherent need, and psychologists classify it as one of the primary biological motives. Therefore, the object of this study was aimed at evaluating the condition of the body mass index (BMI) of students at Pan-European University Apeiron Banja Luka. Another aim of this study was to determine the specificities of distribution parameters and their possible impact on the choice of sports and recreational activities at university.
The research was conducted at Pan-European University Apeiron in Banja Luka, as a transversal study, using survey methods and included 321 examinees, students of this university. The research aim was also to determine the body mass index of students and its potential impact on the choice of sports and recreational activities within the university.
